Bittersweet

My first sighting of fallen leaves

Yesterday was the first day that I had seen fallen leaves this year. I actually saw one float down from the sky onto the windshield of another car as I drove across the University bridge, and I literally gasped. The weather just didn't seem like it was time for Autumn. Then about fifteen minutes later I was walking downtown and I saw a swirl of orange and yellow fly up into the air with the wind and I just knew it. Summer has come to an end.

The weather here in Saskatoon tends to be extremely gorgeous at the end of August and the beginning of September, so I think that might be why Fall has crept up on me. This morning, though, I knew that it really is here. The air had that wonderful crispness where I almost needed a light coat and it was nearly intoxicating to breathe in.  Does that happen to anyone else? Can you smell the seasons changing? I can. And I love it.

P.S. I use Fall and Autumn interchangeably... I like them both!
