Road Trip Recap: Regina, SK - March 27 - 29, 2015

The first trip of my #take12trips challenge was to Regina - nice and close to home. I've technically already taken a few trips, considering I was in Regina when I wrote the original post and we've also been to visit my boyfriend's family in Prince Albert a few times too, but I won't be including those - mainly because we just relaxed and enjoyed everyone's company so there just isn't much to share!

On to this visit to Regina. It started out as a trip for a girls night with some of my friends, but I ended up fitting in some time with family and Santana and I finally got to see each other again too before I went on home to meet my future roomie so she could tour my place. It was a pretty quick weekend, but so much fun.

Jessica decided last minute that she wanted to make our girls night a Frozen themed evening, so that's what we did! I picked up some cupcakes from Cathedral Bakery, Jessica, Sylvia, and I ran some errands to pick up supplies and food, and along the way we stopped in at Party City, where we picked up the majority of our Frozen items: a "gliding" Elsa helium balloon, props for the photo booth, and streamers! The store was so awesome, and the aisle with all of the paper cups, plates, and napkins was essentially an organization enthusiast's dream.

The evening shaped up well with about ten of us in attendance. We had appetizers, desserts, drinks, a photo booth, pin the nose on Olaf, and some wonderful conversations mixed with some dancing (of course).

What did you get up to this weekend?

Some of My Favourite Blogs

Above images are from the blogs I am highlighting in this post, please click the linked names below to see the original graphics.

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. My dance students were at a competition on Friday and my ballet group won first place! I am so unbelievably proud of them, they have worked really hard these past couple of months :)

Today I thought I would share some of my favourite blogs to follow. I follow so many blogs, so it was kind of hard to narrow down. Because of that, I decided to go with two categories: long time favourites and new favourites.

Three blogs that I have followed for a long time:

The College Prepster - I have been following Carly's blog for quite a while now! She wasn't one of the original blogs I found back when I decided to start my own blog, but it wasn't long after that. I have loved watching College Prep grow and expand and I have also loved reading along while Carly does the same. She and I finished university at the same time, so we have had a few major life events line up; at those times it was comforting and exciting to be able to read a blog written by someone at the same point in life as myself. The College Prepster was started when Carly was in college, and has since evolved to sharing about her life living in New York and blogging full time. She has the cutest puppy, Teddy, and always has something new up her sleeve to share.

A Beautiful Mess - I don't remember exactly when I stumbled upon A Beautiful Mess, but it was a long time ago when Elsie was still running her storefront, Red Velvet, and she was the only contributor to the blog (for the most part, I think?). A Beautiful Mess is a blog about home décor, arts & crafts, photography, fashion, and more. It has grown to a whole team that creates content and works behind the scenes and they are always surpassing their already great quality.

How Sweet It Is - This is another blog that I don't totally remember when I first found it, but I am so happy that I did. I know it was pre-Pinterest days and I was still saving recipes I found on Evernote (did anyone else do that?). Jessica shares some awesome recipes with extremely drool-worthy pictures. I have tried quite a few of her recipes out myself and they have never failed me.

Three blogs that I have started following more recently:

IHeart Organizing - Out of these three "more recent" blogs, IHeart Organizing is the one that I have followed for the longest. I am absolutely obsessed with anything to do with organization and I went on a kick about 2 years ago searching for anything and everything online about organizing. I found my favourite YouTube Channel (which I'll share about soon!) and IHeart Organizing, among a few others, and I have been a consistent reader of IHeart Organizing ever since. I love following along with projects that Jen works on in her own home as well as the contributor posts she shares.

History in High Heels - This is probably my most-viewed blog at the moment. Ashley is currently living in Florence working on her PhD in History and every time I read about her adventures my wanderlust is fueled even more. Even prior to her leaving for Florence, her fashion posts while living in Florida are so fun to read and she has such a great style of writing, which is no doubt enriched by her academic pursuits. If you check out her blog you'll probably see my name in the comments section of pretty much all of her recent posts - I'm fan-girling hard and I am totally okay with it.

Summer Wind - Summer Wind is a blog that I have very recently come across, saying it was within the last six months would be generous. Sydney's posts are all well-thought out and well-written and I can't get over her awesome style. She has shared about some smaller (and not-so-small) adventures lately that are exactly my cup of tea!

Make sure you check out these blogs and let these ladies know I sent you! Do you have any blogs to recommend to me? I am always happy to add another great blog to my favourites list!

Life Lately

I thought I'd share those little things that have been going on lately in my life via what I've posted on Instagram. If you would like to follow me my account is @sweetspontaneity :)

I broke out the palettes and brushes to do some makeup for a good friend.

I had two coffee dates in one day with some lovely friends I hadn't seen in awhile.

I served some kale chips at an Arbonne party that I hosted.

As I shared here, Amanda and I tried out Capanna Pizzeria and we loved everything. Multiple visits will be required to try all that we want to try (which is the entire menu).

I made a bunch of scarves! Each one only took about 10-15 minutes.

And that 's my life lately through Instagram! What have you been up to lately? Feel free to link your Instagram account - I'd love to see your photos too!

Capanna Pizzeria - Saskatoon, SK

I had the day off on Friday, so Amanda and I decided it was time to meet up for a long overdue lunch date. We chose the new Capanna Pizzeria, which is just around the corner from the Riversdale Deli. Chef Darby Kells is at it again with a wonderful restaurant - the atmosphere, the food, and the drink selection are top notch.

We both decided to go for the sangria and it was super tasty. It came topped with a lime and a few drop peppers - the drop peppers were a unique addition that neither of us had tried before, but that we both really enjoyed.

Since it was lunch and we were really wanting to have room for dessert we decided to skip the appetizers this time around, but you can be sure we'll be returning to try out their selection! We had trouble choosing which pizzas to order; they all sounded delicious and Amanda was seriously tempted by the onion, fig, and blue cheese pizza (mainly because of the blue cheese), but we ended up settling on the wild mushroom pizza for Amanda and the prawn pizza for myself. Amanda compromised by stopping by Riversdale Deli to pick up some of the blue cheese to take home instead.

We shared our pizzas and I truly cannot choose which one I liked better - they were both crispy, delicious, and filled us up just enough that we could share some tiramisu for dessert.

I would absolutely recommend Capanna Pizzeria and I will definitely be returning. Let me know if you try it out!
